Sergey Petrov and Vladimir Petrov, Participants of CHSPU Memory Search Unit Conquered ElbrusToday, members of Pamyat Memory search unit Sergey Petrov and Vladimir Petrov climbed to the top of Elbrus. There were eight participants but only these two graduates of the Pedagogical University reached the final point of the expedition.
The climb took place in the framework of “Sky Front 2019” military-historical festival, which takes place in the Zelenchuksky district of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic. The festival is dedicated to the memory of the Red Army soldiers who died in the battles for the liberation of the Caucasus.
The project was attended by more than 200 people from 20 regions of the Russian Federation, as well as Ukraine, Belarus, Germany and the Czech Republic.
As part of the festival, there were search activities in the area of snow-ice fields of the Marukh glacier and passes of the Sanchar group (altitude of about 3000 m above sea level), as well as in the vicinity of the village of Khurzuk. In addition, the search unit members became participants in the reconstruction of one of the episodes of the battle for the Caucasus.
Climbing to a height of 5642 meters was the final stage of the festival and went along the route of German divisions to Elbrus through the Khotyutau pass.
