YAKOVLEV UNIVERSITY MEETS FRESHMENYakovlev Chuvash State Pedagogical University held the celebration of the Day of Knowledge at Ukhsai Palace of Culture on September 2.

The student associations of the Chuvash University presented their expositions in the hall of the Palace of Culture before the event.

Vladimir Ivanov, Rector of the Pedagogical University, Adviser to the President of the Chuvash Republic, started the event. Vladimir Nikolaevich congratulated the students on Knowledge Day and noted that this is an anniversary year for the University. I. Yalovlev State Pedagogical University will celebrate the 90th anniversary this coming academic year, there will be the 100th anniversary of the Chuvash Autonomy, and, the whole year will be in the name of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The Rector expressed gratitude to the teachers who encourage and inspire the students to respect an honorable profession of a teacher, emphasized that they provided all the conditions for students to enjoy studying at the university, and expressed hope that the freshmen will carefully keep the traditions of the great Chuvash educator I. Yakovlev.

Ivan Borisovich Motorin, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Chuvash Republic, Yuri Mikhaylovich Kislov, Deputy of the State Council of the Chuvash Republic, Deputy Chairman of the State Council of the Chuvash Republic, Aleksey Yuryevich Guryev, Deputy Minister of Education and Youth Policy of the Chuvash Republic, visited the event.

I. Motorin congratulated those present on the beginning of the new academic year and stressed that Pedagogical University, the oldest institution of higher education in the Chuvash Republic, provides students with fundamental knowledge to contribute it to the development of our country.

Yu. Kislov, addressing the freshmen, emphasized: “I myself graduated from this University 42 years ago. The teachers, environment, responsibility I learned there greatly influenced my life. And today I still remember my alma mater, I’m proud of it, and I want you to be proud of being a student of Yakovlev University and being a teacher.”

By good tradition, the freshmen were awarded a symbolic student ID card and made the solemn oath of the freshman, promising to proudly bear the name of a student of Yakovlev University, to achieve success in their studies and social activities.
The senior students also congratulated the freshmen with a performance.
