PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY HELD A DISCUSSION ON ETHNOPEDAGOGICS ISSUES AND PROSPECTS On September 27, I. Yakovlev Chuvash State Pedagogical University hosted the international scientific-practical conference “Ethnopedagogical Guidelines in Multicultural Educational Environment as the Basis for the Formation of Ethnic Tolerance.” The conference was organized by the Research Institute of Ethnopedagogics named after Academician of the RAS G. N. Volkov with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
The purpose of the conference is to analyze and discuss the problems and prospects of ethnopedagogcs as a branch of science, the methods of studying ethnopedagogics in terms of theory and practice of modern education; the problems of intercultural relations and the preservation of ethnocultural values related to the issues of interpenetration and mutual influence of languages and cultures, preservation of national identity and the formation of ethnic tolerance in a multicultural environment.
The conference was attended by representatives of the scientific and pedagogical community from 17 regions of the Russian Federation (Chuvashia, Tatarstan, Mari El, Khakassia, Udmurtia, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, Kursk Region, Tambov Region, Saratov Region, Kemerovo Region, Perm Territory, Khabarovsk Territory, Trans-Baikal Territory, Krasnodar Territory, Moscow, St. Petersburg), from near and distant foreign countries (Belarus, Ukraine, Turkmenistan, Moldova, Poland, China, France).
The President of the Pedagogical University, Professor Vladimir Ivanov, addressed the participants with a welcoming speech.

Linguistic analysis of everyday colloquial speech of the Russian-speaking population of modern Ukraine in the light of Russian-Ukrainian bilingualism (based on field research). Mikhail Sergeevich Khmelevsky (St. Petersburg, Russia).
Work experience of public organizations in France as exemplified by the association “France - Russia”. Zerbino Valentina Grosjean (Besancon, France).
The conference continued in the following sections:
- Current trends in the development of ethnopedagogics in educational space;
- Modern university as multicultural educational space: issues and prospects of pedagogics of higher education;
- Role of ethnopedagogics in the formation of ethnic tolerance;
- Spiritual and cultural values of peoples: the image of a perfect person;
- Children’s environment as ethnopedagogical space. The role of the native language, folk pedagogics and ethnic traditions in the education of the younger generation;
- Current issues of intercultural communication;
- Linguistic picture of the world and national mentality;
- Language and culture in the aspect of intercultural communication.
