Friendship of Peoples Festival-Competition at I. Y. Yakovlev Pedagogical University |
December 9, on the eve of the Constitution Day of the Russian Federation, Yakovlev University held a colorful festival-competition Friendship of Peoples for the eighth time.
The festival aims at fostering a culture of tolerance among young people of different nationalities and religions and is designed to instill love for their homeland, distinctive and unique culture, and folk traditions in the young generation. The ethnic festival is traditionally held by youth themselves. Each faculty presented a ten-minute presentation of the cultural traditions of one of the peoples of the world in creative performances. This year the culture of the peoples of the following countries and regions was presented: Russia, Ukraine, Turkmenistan, Belarus, Georgia, the Chuvash Republic, the Republic of Tatarstan, the Republic of Buryatia, the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), as well as the culture of Gipsies. The festival was attended by creative teams from all faculties of the Pedagogical University, as well as the team of international students. Natalia Alimova, Ballet Dancer of the Chuvash State Academic Song and Dance Ensemble, Honored Artist of the Chuvash Republic, Svetlana Ilyina, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Pedagogical University, Candidate of Art Criticism, Roza Glyakina, Music Teacher of 9th School in Cheboksary, Honorary Worker of General Education of the Russian Federation, Honored Teacher of the Chuvash Republic, Evgeny Lebedev, Director for Development of Treasure Island Game Parks, were invited as the member of judging panel. Original songs, choreographic compositions, national dances made this concert a very bright and colorful event. The performances reminded the audience about the deep national roots that still determine the behavior, priorities and life guidelines for all of us. All creative teams were awarded with diplomas and valuable prizes at the end of the festival. The Faculty of Technology and Economics, who presented the culture of the Buryat people, shared the Grand Prix of the festival-competition with the Faculty of Art and Music Education, who performed the culture of the Chuvash people. The Audience Award was determined by online voting which was given to the Faculty of Psychology and Pedagogy. Congratulations to all the participants for their vivid performances in the contest!
