General Information about I. Yakovlev Chuvash State Pedagogical University
I. Yakovlev Chuvash State Pedagogical University was founded on10 June 1930. Since its foundation the university has trained more than 52,000 specialists.
I. Yakovlev Chuvash State Pedagogical University is a modern higher educational institution and regional centre for innovative development with the main focus on advanced preparation of competent professionals. It quickly responds to the social demand and provides specialists for basic sectors of the economy in the region.
At present, training is carried out under 129 basic academic programs within 10 major groups. Quality education is provided by 249 highly qualified specialists, including 34 professors, doctors of science, and 193associate professors, candidates of science.
There are6 academic buildings, 3 halls of residence, a health care centre and a swimming pool.
According to the results of the monitoring by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the Chuvash State Pedagogical University is recognized as an effective university that has successfully overcome the threshold of all seven indicators.

Vladimir Nikolayevich Ivanov, University Rector, Doctor of Pedagogic Sciences, Professor
Ivanov Vladimir Nikolayevich was born on November 22, 1957 in the village of Aleshkino, the Yadrinsky District of the Chuvash Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic (ASSR).
In 1978 he graduated from the Chuvash State Pedagogical Institute named after Ivan Yakovlevich Yakovlev with the qualification of a secondary school teacher of physics.
After graduating from the institute he worked as a headmaster of the Kildishev eight-year school in the Yadrinsky District of the Chuvash ASSR. Then he worked as a headmaster of the Seloyadrin High School in the Yadrinsky District of the Chuvash ASSR from 1981 to 1988. In March 1988, he had been appointed the supervisor of the school board of the Yadrin Executive Committee of the Chuvash ASSR. Since August 1991 he worked as a vice-headmaster for scientific and methodical work of the Yadrin National High School. In 2002 he became Professor of Physics in I.N. Ulyanov Chuvash State University. Since January 2009 he worked as a professor of the theoretical and experimental physics department of the Chuvash State University. By the order of the President of the Chuvash Republic he was designated the Education and Youth Policy Minister of the Chuvash Republic on February 7, 2011. Vladimir N. Ivanov was appointed the Acting Rector of I.Y. Yakovlev Chuvash State Pedagogical University, the Federal State Funded Educational Institution of Higher Education, on May 19, 2016. Since June 29, 2017 he has been the Rector of I.Y. Yakovlev Chuvash State Pedagogical University.
Vladimir N. Ivanov defended his Candidate’s Dissertation “Individualization of learning and upbringing of intellectually gifted and talented rural pupils in boarding schools” in 1995.
He defended his Doctor’s Dissertation “Elite school in the national educational system: establishment, development, prediction” in 1999.
Vladimir N. Ivanov dedicates his research work to the individualization of learning and upbringing and the cooperation of the university with schools. A number of his publications are dedicated to the elite education pedagogy, ethnopedagogy, educational and project management, using information and communication technologies at the lessons of Physics and teacher training in the conditions of the two-level system of higher education. He is an author of more than 80 academic works, including 5 monographies.
The Rector is the head editor of the Bulletin of the Chuvash State Pedagogical University.
Vladimir N. Ivanov took part in the following programs, projects and competitions:
- Collaborative development of the draft law “On education of the Chuvash Republic” (1990-1991);
- Renovation of Liberal Education in Russia, the program of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation and the Cultural Initiatives International Foundation ( 1993-1995) with the project “Education and development of intellectually gifted rural pupils in boarding schools”;
- Leader Project (the Federal experimental platform since 1998, the academic advisor and the author of the project, a medal of School 2000 International Exposition);
- Federal Program of the Educational Modernization in Russia: the Unified State Examination (USE) experiment (the expert in physics, 2002-2004);
- Federal Grant Program for Development of the Integrated Educational Informational Network” (the expert, 2004).
Vladimir Nikolayevich was awarded the Certificate of Merit of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic in 1987, the title of Honoured Teacher of the Chuvash Republic in 1998, Konstantin Ushinsky Medal in 2003, the title of Honorary Worker of General Education of the Russian Federation in 2014, the Order of Merit for the Chuvash Republic in 2016.
